External Associate, Institute of Forestry, Member, Serbia
Aleksandar Vasiljević has been working for three decades in the forestry sector. In the early years of his professional career, he was employed as an engineer for operational planning in forestry. Later he specialized in forest inventory and forest management planning and worked in public administration as assistant Minister and Director of the forest directorate between 2001 and 2008. During this period, he was actively engaged in international projects, advising on development of forest regulations, reorganization of state administration and public enterprise for forest management. Hereafter he worked as manager in public forest enterprises, responsible for prosperous business success, which demanded besides business analysis and strategy development, the elaboration of progressive forest management systems. As consultant he worked in several international projects on forest management and forestry software development. During his doctoral studies, he dealt with the impact of the forestry sector on the socio-economic component of sustainable development in Serbia. He is now engaged as an associate of the Institute of Forestry in Belgrade.
