Prof. Dr. Alan Simson, Alan is a landscape architect, an urban forester and an urban designer, and is Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture and Urban Forestry at Leeds Beckett University in the UK, where he is involved in teaching, research and innovative practice. Prior to working in academia, he worked in the UK New Towns, as well as private practice, including his own. He is a Member of the Steering Committee of the European Forum on Urban Forestry, and has been involved in several of the EU’s COST Actions associated with urban forestry/urban greening, and led COST Action E12 Urban Forests and Trees on behalf of the UK. He is also Chair of the White Rose Community Forest, the largest community forest in the UK and a Board Member of both the Arboricultural Association and the Community Forest Trust.
