Prof. Dr. Jelena Tomićević-Dubljević: Jelena is a full professor at the University of Belgrade-Faculty of Forestry, Department for Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. She obtained her PhD-title at the University of Freiburg and she conducted the first study in the Serbian region that focused on the social and economic – human dimensions – of biodiversity conservation and nature protection for her doctoral research. She is also developing an innovative and important line of research connecting the urban landscape and issue of participation with principles and methods from natural resources management and conservation. She has researched public participation, urban forestry issues, the influence of greenery on human health, landscape management, and protected area management.  In the last six years, her main research interest is in the influence of greenery on the mental health of the urban population. She worked several years on research design methodology to understand linkages between urban green areas and visitors’ physical and mental well-being. She is also head of Chair for Landscape Horticulture at Department for Landscape Architecture and Horticulture.
