Mrs. Renate Susanna Spaeth is a forester. She has been working at the Ministry for Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW), Germany, for 35 years. She has been responsible for different aspects of forest management and forest conservation, especially the implementation of EU legislation of forest nature conservation. One of the prior tasks also has been the renaturing process of the Ruhr Area, Germanys biggest coal mining and steel industry shaped industrial landscape. Therefore, she is familiar with Urban Forestry since the beginning of EFUF in Europe. Two EFUF Conferences have been held under her organisational responsibility in NRW. She is a Member of the Steering Committee of the European Forum on Urban Forestry, and has been involved in EU’s COST Actions associated with urban forestry/urban greening. She also has been a member of FAO/ECE/Team of Specialist on Gender and forestry and has been working on Gender issues for almost 35 years. The third topic of professional interest in her career have been different aspects of Forest Commons in Europe.
